tips for keeping your skin healthy

Dry skin plagues everyone at one time or another due to a variety of reasons. The effects of aging, changes in the weather, dry indoor heating or air conditioning, and harsh soaps or detergents are just a few causes
of dry skin.

Dry skin can result in flaking, rough patches, or deep cracks or fissures—which typically occur on the heels
of the feet.

But there’s no reason to suffer from dry skin any longer.

What can I do?

During the winter

  • Avoid exposing skin to wind and cold air
  • Wear gloves, a scarf, and warm footwear
  • Apply a moisturizer, such as AmLactin®,
to dry skin before going outside
Wear gloves, a scarf, and warm footwear
Dreak at least 8 glasses of water each day

During the summer

  • Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day
  • Wear shoes and socks if you have dry, cracked heels
  • Apply extra moisturizer to affected areas

During bath time

  • Use warm water when taking a bath or shower; hot water can dry out the skin
  • Replace baths with showers; limit your bathing time
  • Wash dry skin areas with a nonsoap cleanser
  • Leave a little moisture on the skin
  • Apply moisturizer as soon as possible after bathing

How can AmLactin® help?

To soften rough dry skin, you may need a heavy-duty moisturizer such as AmLactin®. The AmLactin® family of body moisturizing lotions and creams contains a special alpha-hydroxy blend, which helps skin retain its natural moisture. And since AmLactin® moisturizers are fragrance-free, they reduce the potential for skin irritation.
